Finally, Low Rise Jeans Are a Wrap!!

You know I wasn't too sure if I could say this last year because of how big the skinny jean epidemic was, but finally the low rise jeans are put to bed! A few years ago after low rise have been in style for about 5 years or so, I thought that trend was never going to fade away... I'm thinking damn, I still have to suffer with my ass hanging out just for fashions sake... is it really worth it?? And now, it seems my style prayers have been answered because these days low rise jeans seems to be obsolete! YAY for that! So ladies... and those fellas who dabble in women's jeans, just in case you haven't noticed, no more butt cleavage and no more hip bone... there's a new sexy and it definitely isn't my thong waving hi to ya. Bye Bye low rise jeans, you will not be missed.

Summer Trend Alert : Long Skirts/Dresses with Thigh High Slits

So, I never thought a long skirt would come back in style... Definitely wasn't a fan of the 90's fashion movement. But as it seems, the long skirt is baaaaack! Of course long dresses have been in for a while especially with the maxi dress craze that seems to be more of a fashion forever rather than a trend... But my little fashion Kittens, the long dress/skirt has come out to play this summer will full force. Have you seen any of these exotic, extra sexy, oh so flirty skirts and dresses with the exaggerated slits? The garments are tough, and can make any woman of any color, size, shape, or form look extra hot, sleek, and cool. Please look below for some of the hot trends in long dresses and skirts for this summer.

All Is Fair In Spring And Color

Spring is here and is holding no prisoners when it comes to color. From beige's to hot pinks, and metallics to light blues, all have a say in what is hot for Spring of 2011. The ultimate color that has walked the runway this season is definitely orange. Orange is that color that over the years, it took some getting use to; a little mingling with golds and trying a match up with silver, but now, in its element, orange can be paired up with any given color in the makeup pallet. Black is even acceptable as a matching color without the thought that Halloween is right around the corner.

The hues that are making a big statement this season are Beige, Electric Blue, Orange, Magenta, Pale Yellow, Emerald Green, Red & Navy Blue, just to name a few. Not only are the monotone looks in for this season, the matching of prints with patterns and embellishments with texture is a huge way that these colors are breaking through to show that all is fair in color when it comes to showcasing your style for Spring.

One can only imagine the possibilities of all the different ways to match up the variety of color that Spring has to offer. It can be a little intimidating as well as overwhelming  to think if what you put together really actually works.  A good way to figure this out is to try on many outfits and take pictures of the full looks in the mirror; if you have someone to take the pics for you, even better. View the pictures and judge them from an outsiders perspective. Do they look ridiculous or like you are trying too hard? Or do the pics look hot and unique?  You should always be the one true judge of your own style.

Let's Talk Vintage Style

Not everyone can appreciate a vintage style. It's a certain love of fashion that can only lead one to understand the affinity that goes along with the appreciation of anything vintage. Vintage clothing and accessories are not to be taken lightly to the serious vintage-ee. Any fashionable person that is a true hoarder of all vintage styles know that they are a collector of the fine arts of fashion and will denounce anyone who feels they are more of a vintage whore than themselves.

If I had to pick one style, it is definitely Vintage. I've been told on a few different occasions that I dress like "an old lady" which I secretly take as a compliment of course. There's nothing like the feel, the smell and the look of something that is dated and different from anything that was made in the here and the now. Whenever I go the the thrift shop and pick up a purse that has that "basement" smell to it, I can not get enough of it. It takes me back to a place that I am not even sure that I've been, but through that purse, I can feel that time and place of when it was first conceived.

Not all vintage is created equal. There are a lot of different debates as to what is considered vintage and what is not. Some would argue that something made in the 80's is too soon to be considered vintage; I beg to differ. Most proclaim that anything from before the 1920's through the 1960's is the vintage market. But then again, I say the vintage lies in the eye of the beholder. There are also those vintage type pieces that have been made in the recent years... but those of course are not really vintage... those are modern day pieces that have been inspired by a vintage look.

Vintage isn't a name brand like Fendi or Gucci. Something doesn't have to be hundreds or even thousands of dollars to be considered vintage. Some vintage items loose their value as time moves on, some items value increases. A true vintage piece lies in the fabric and the showmanship that was put in to making the garment or accessory. Truth be told, you can go to a garage sale or the Goodwill and find a vintage piece of good presence and quality. There is no better feeling that knowing that you just copped a vintage necklace, or dress for literally a few dollars.

J'Adore Dior.... But Does Dior Love Galliano?

News is spreading fast that one of our favorite trend setting designers might actually be a racist... and it's definitely not a good look. John Galliano, Dior's top couture designer has been arrested and suspending on grounds that he allegedly went on a drunken rant and said some not so nice things about a Jewish couple while he was in Paris. Galliano denied all the claims and can not believe that he has been suspended from Dior on account of hearsay.
I in fact, actually can't believe it either; it's John f*ing Galliano, are they serious? It seems no one is above the law. Everyone knows that Galliano is a fire cracker and it shows within his work, too bad all that flame had to be executed on a poor little Paris couple, allegedly of course, and ultimately leaving Dior's wonder boy in question about his return to the Fashion House of Dior.  After this whole things blows over, I wonder if Galliano's ego is too big to return to the ones who threw him out in the cold after he gave Dior back their breath of fresh air? Hmmm, guess we'll have to wait and see.

Here are a few things from Dior's Spring 2011 Collection:

Come back Ms. Stefani... we miss you ♥

It may seem so long ago since we heard her name, but Gwen Stefani is always on my mind. I like to think of her a some sort of mentor that I have not met yet. Not only is her style sooo Fresh, her talent and eye for creativity is something that I adore most. Way back when no one knew who Gwen Stefani and the Harajuku girls were, me and the other No Doubt fans were amazed by the transformation from a tom boy, push up pumping, sweat slinging, die hard rocker to uber cute, sexy, trendsetting, new age Pop Queen. It was crazy... and totally worked for her. All of hip hops royalty wanted to work with her, and to be apart of whatever she was doing because they knew she was going to smash it. I feel that there would be no Lady Gaga, if there was no Gwen Stefani. She started the trend that Lady Gaga is riding on; crazy blond hairdos, wild and wicked clothes in videos and photo shoots, sky high stilettos. I mean, Gwen Stefani is the reason that Lady Gaga is fresh in the hip hop world. Let's not get it twisted people. I ♥ Lady Gaga, to the high most. These are two totally different talents. But Gwen definitely paved the way, just by being that stylish bitch that she is. This is my ode to Gwen. We love you, come back to us.

We're Dead In The Middle Of Winter; What's In, What's Out, in Winter Fashion?

Wow, I'd say Old Man Winter has hit most of us pretty hard already. We definitely had to pull out the snow boots a little early this year. Between trying to keep warm and having to stay fly, lets talk about what's Fresh and what has gone sour this winter in fashion.

Sour -  full out fur shag boots. I have to say it, I haven't really seen much this year but....uuh uh, nope! Gots to go.

Fresh - Fur trim boots. They are everywhere this Winter. A little fur here a little fur there. Works perfect with any outfit.

Fresh - Fur Hats. The Russian look is back ya'll.

Sour - Puffy Coats. The epitome of Hip Hop Culture. Sorry We are moving on.

Fresh  - Fitted winter jackets and coats. No matter if they are short or long, they are def a must get. Any style, any fabric, as long as it is a tailored look, that is what's in style.

Fresh - White! Come on People, we know that after Labor Day rule does not apply.

Sour - The Lumber Jack look. OUT!

Sour - Sweater Dresses. Ugh, I hate to say this because I love them. Ever since I got my first sweater dress when I was in the 2nd grade, I was a lover for life. But in the name of fashion, I have to go against my judgement and call it quits on this look... for now.

Sour - colored tights. pinks, yellows, greens etc... Sorry, bye bye.

Fresh - The Monotone Look. All Red Everything, All Brown Everything, All Beige Everything. The same color on the same color is def in.

Tha ProFRESHionalz ♥ Anthony Anderson

Have you met my lover Anthony? Well he's not my real lover, but if I could skin him alive, clothes and all, I would wear him, and I would LOVE him. Anthony Anderson II is that dude for fashion! He's from Baltimore, MD and is on his way to becoming one of the most glorious fashion stylist/designers out there. Anthony's style is like no other. If it's copied or duplicated it just looks plain stupid on a person because he is the only one who can do it how he does it. Anthony is a true lover of fashion and it shines out with his creativity for all the ways he expresses his fashion sense. Anthony Anderson, definitely a ProFRESHional for life :)
Please look below for some hot pics taken by photographer Jamie Cardenas www.jamiecardenasphoto.com, styled by of course the one and only Anthony Anderson. You can reach him at aanderson949@gmail.com.
